south africa, you make my heart skip a beat
my day began with an "interview" with two 9year old boys about south africa
i loved the innocence of their questions.
{elephants don't roam around in my neighbourhood,
we don't only play with homemade toys - we buy them from the store,
because we mine gold, we can't just get some from "the big hole"
it doesn't snow there,
& sadly, i've never conversed with nelson mandela,
and yes, he's still alive - 91years old infact}
after about 2hours of the Q&A session, i left them with SA candy, coins
and the basics of zulu!
tonight i went to a fantastic musical 'amandla! mandela'
-a musical about the man who changed the world-
i sat there, in the 3rd row of a sold out show
about one of my former presidents
at the de harmonie
in the netherlands
just beaming at the music, the actors, hearing my language & learning more of my history
my boss bought tickets for me & her family
and the show was loved by all - especially oma (81yrs old),
who had many a question to ask after the show
home, i have a renewed respect for your history
an increased love for you
& an boundless hope for continued change
we'll be just fine
