yesterday was gorgeous

beautiful weather

i wore a dress, a thin cardigan and life was good.

today, it's cold & gray.

i'm confused.

there's more to my life than analysing weather patterns though :)

i'm looking for a randomly beautiful piece of artwork to hang up in my living/dining room combination.

it must be colourful. bold. and big-ish.

and preferably on the cheaper side of my wallet...

things pretty

my bathroom is an eye-sore

truly.

by the time we'd fixed up the apartment, it was just too exhausting to even think about the bathroom

but now, it needs a change

i don't have a big budget, so it'll be small changes to tweek it a little.

i spent yesterday painting white, the cracks inbetween the tiles (what's it called again??)

it now looks a little brighter & cleaner

whilst doing this i realised that the tiles are a pale yellow colour - yay!!

whoa...

i drove my sister & nephew to schiphol this morning

their flight was at 10:30, so we had to leave the apartment at 06:00. whoa

disturbing observation:

on the 1st of June i recall the sun rising at 04:15

it's now october & it only starting rising at 07:35! is this healthy?

its so late. too late.

& it started getting dark again at around 17:30!
the end.

it was such a blessing to have family here for a week... even though we didn't get to do a whole lot, it was just so comforting having them around.

it felt like home.

we laughed. laughed alot. we spoke in zulu

we had bouts of sibling rivalry - i'd missed it :)

we shopped. and shopped.

we huddled together in the living room & watched comedies

& we just loved being together.
it was SO NICE not having complete silence in the apartment.

speaking of the apartment;
i bought a new ceiling lamp at ikea for a steal!
sonto's the handier one, so i asked her to put it up.
in the process, the lights tripped and now half the apartment is dark... and i have NO IDEA where the main switch board is! oops
ever tried getting dressed in hallway, because that's the only place with working lights?
interesting.

it needs more colour... toch? and yes, that is an apron (i had nowhere else to hang it up)

why are my boots not in the closet? dutch closets are TINY... there's barely enough room for my flip flops!

this made me giggle:

i had to buy it for the boots... the liquid impregnates your boots! hehehe.

music, family, good times all wrapped in one

july's going to be such a great month! i'm so excited for it :)

first off, this awesome lady, who happens to also be my sister is coming to visit for 2weeks!
she'll make my vacation time THAT much more awesome. hehe.
she flys into Schipol Airport on Sunday morning!!

i've spent yesterday & a bit of today getting the guest room ready for her.
it's been cleaned, vacuumed, curtained up, straightened up, dusted off... & i might even put a flower on her pillow. it's a tiny room, but it'll be ALL hers & surely every guest loves that.

i hope she has a WONDERFUL time here!

before that .... july's kicked out with probably the Loudest concert i'm yet to attend.
Tomorrow night at Ahoy in Rotterdam, I get to rock out with these boys!!! aaah!

...& we're in!

we've moved in!

it wasn't finished... but it was enough that we could finally move in :)
it's been a bit of a rough start, but im finally starting to feel settled

all the garbage is FINALLY off my balcony & the living room.
we have working lights in every room & are now just working on the little things that add that extra touch :)

gavin degraw & adele were kind enough to serenade/keep me motivated while i unpacked, packed & sorted

i've loved every night i've spent there so far & it's so great waking up to a room that was created by me... for me

Apartment 13

update...

the living room & my balcony are still cluttered with boxes & garbage, but we're moving in anyway!

as you can see from some of the pics we had to assemble our furniture... ALL OF IT! the beds, the couch, the shelves, the tables etc etc EVERYTHING!

we love you IKEA! haha. hilbert & the missionaries are coming to help take out all the garbage on wednesday, so we can start cleaning/sanitising the place so it's actually liveable! im so excited to finally move in (tomorrow hopefully)

we move in this weekend & this'll be my home for (prayerfully hoping) the next year :)
