whoa...

>> Oct 24, 2009

i drove my sister & nephew to schiphol this morning
their flight was at 10:30, so we had to leave the apartment at 06:00. whoa

disturbing observation:

on the 1st of June i recall the sun rising at 04:15
it's now october & it only starting rising at 07:35! is this healthy?
its so late. too late.
& it started getting dark again at around 17:30!
the end.

it was such a blessing to have family here for a week... even though we didn't get to do a whole lot, it was just so comforting having them around.
it felt like home.
we laughed. laughed alot. we spoke in zulu
we had bouts of sibling rivalry - i'd missed it :)
we shopped. and shopped.
we huddled together in the living room & watched comedies
& we just loved being together.
it was SO NICE not having complete silence in the apartment.

speaking of the apartment;
i bought a new ceiling lamp at ikea for a steal!
sonto's the handier one, so i asked her to put it up.
in the process, the lights tripped and now half the apartment is dark... and i have NO IDEA where the main switch board is! oops
ever tried getting dressed in hallway, because that's the only place with working lights?
interesting.
see, it's these memories that i'll treasure

a day worth smiling about

>> Apr 4, 2009

it was my nephew's (Lukhanya) baptism & it was nice to see him so excited about the giant step he was taking.

i had the honour of giving a talk & made him part of it... i kind of did an object lesson that involved him - i had him come stand with me at the pulpit - and he loved it and hopefully understood what baptism was all about.
i could have given the usual talk but he, like me, has a short attention span. hahaha. us kids :)
alot of his primary friends came & supported him, even though it was at 9am in the morning.
overall, he had fun.
he turned 8years old on the 2nd April... wow, how fast they grow.
he's the coolest kid on the block.
loves to read & watch the disney channel -loving Ben10 these days.
quite sensitive & just wants all his friends to come to church with him.
always eager to help & his kindness just melts my heart.
love you my boy!
my, the awesome teacher, is on school holidays right now so she drove up from durban to see her grandchild get baptised.
she'll be around for the whole week, which is even better.
my bro-in-law's side of the family also came out to support Lu.
the kids have been playing outside all day - it's a good thing when cousins reunite.
we've laughed, cried, prayed, played, ate&ate&ate together as a family :)
it's general conference weekend!
i'm looking forward to listening to the good word :)
hope you've had a weekend worth smiling about!

weekend in review

>> Oct 19, 2008

The past couple weeks have been so crazy - workwise, and tomorrow we're launching the new Cell C campaign so I told myself that i definatly needed to rest up this weekend.
Friday - was invited to Zai's (a great friend/colleague) house for yummy food & DVD's, so im on my way there and Sonto calls and asks if i could babysit Lu, because she'd forgotten that she an engagement party to go.... so i met her on William Nicol and took Lu to the dvd evening with me :) I have a hard time saying No to family! :) He's an awesome kid though, so i don't have issues
It was such a great evening! The food was GREAT & did more talking than movie watching, so i got to know more of her friends, who're such good people. It was soooo good to have some adult conversation and just be sociable again.

Saturday - i'd slept over at Sonto's place, and the bed is awesome so i slept like a baby! frustratingly i woke up at 6:00am (due to that human alarm clock), but i got up had breakfast and watched some TV.
at around noon, i took Lu to see a movie (Lu & Aunty Thobe time), so we saw 'Beverley Hills Chihuaha' *sp :) it was cute and he enjoyed it.

the rest of the day, was spent relaxing and trying so hard not to think about work on Monday.
I bought a calling card, because I really wanted to chat to the Taylors -id missed them so much- and just as i was about to call LAUREN CALLED!! I was so happy, she'd left for Florida on Monday and i hadn't heard a thing from her. (she's there for 6months to work at a Golf Course)..we had a good chat, and i called her back to get more of the low down :)
I then called the Taylors and only Morgan & Jamie were home so chatted to Morgan for about 10mins... she's really grown up and it was great chatting with her.

Sunday - woke up, went to Church, which is always great. Then came home and a great lunch that Steven (my bro-in-law) made.

Now I'm watching TSN and waiting for the Sunday 8pm movie :)

In the beginning...

I've always wondered why people start blogs... you know, in the world of facebook, myspace and personal websites why would you want to blog?
My personal reasoning for adventuring to this side of the web: my sense of adventure AND I'm babysitting all 3 of my nephews (as seen in the pic) for the WHOLE weekend and felt that both parties (them and I) needed some alone time :)

So I'm in my sister's office blogging and they're watching Ben10 and whatever else the Disney channel has to offer.ha ha.

So what's been happening? I moved to Joburg a little more than a week ago and have been hitting the job trail quite vigorously. Moving to Joburg was always "the last thing i would EVER do"... now look where I am! This place is sooooo cold, honestly 2 nights ago it was 2 degress celsius - that's got to be illegal or something. I find myself falling into a place of self-pity from time to time (today was one of those days), where I get upset that I still haven't a job and finances i feel are natural depressant haha, but I make it through. There's always a reason to smile.
I've been to one interview so far and it went okay, even though it's not the position I'm looking for it would be a thrilling experience if i was offered the position.

Met with another recruiment agent today and honestly felt like i was in an exam room... i had to fill out a form and answer questions about the Advertising/Marketing industry etc. and everything! I was like "what the heck?!" Anyways, it's done and i hope she finds me what I'm looking for.

Living with my Sister (Sonto) has been quite the ummm humbling experience one could say. I'm realising more and more how IDENTICAL she is to my mom (no matter how many times she denies it). I just keep telling myself that this is just a TEMPORARY situation and I have to literally grin, bear and appreciate it :)
Wow, Thobeka is growing up! Moving out on her own, having to support herself, rely on her strengths and write in the 3rd person.ha ha

So happy I took the jump... looking forward to the adventure!
